| The importance of a will in providing direction in the event of serious permanent incapacitation or death means that certain persons and certain actions require the mandatory lodgment of a valid will. | ||

| The following professions require the lodgment and maintenance of a valid will: | ||
| All military service personnel | ||
| All law enforcement personnel | ||
| All medical and emergency personnel | ||
| All professional transport staff | ||
| All officials elected to office | ||

| The following actions/obligations require the lodgment and maintenance of a valid will: | ||
| Securing of any loan or mortgage valued at half the average annual salary of a worker in Republic of United Korea or greater amount; | ||
| Undertaking any sporting/recreation activity which involves recognized dangers and threats of serious injury/death; | ||
| Securing of any life insurance policy | ||
